Google has announced that it has almost fixed the Business Profile Reviews count bug many UK businesses are experiencing, saying the issue is ongoing but should be resolved soon.
Google bug miscounting reviews
On February 7, Google experienced a bug that miscalculated the number of reviews on UK Business Profile accounts and Google Maps, showing fewer reviews than were there.
Many business profile owners reported missing reviews; however, Google confirmed it hadn’t removed them, they were missing because of the bug, and it is working on restoring the correct review count.
Google updates GBP review count issue
Google posted an update on its Google Business Profile Forums, saying the bug is mostly fixed. While some business profiles still experience incorrect review counts, all reviews will be restored in the coming days.
Victoria Kroll, who announced the bug on February 7, posted an update in the Google Business Profile Forums on February 13, where she wrote:
- “Most affected profiles now display accurate ratings and reviews. However, while we have made significant progress, some profiles may still experience a temporary lower count. These profiles should recover to pre-issue levels over the next few days. No reviews were unpublished due to this issue. If your review count does not return to the level it was before this issue in the next few days, please contact support.”

What action to take
Google initially said that business profile owners with missing reviews needed to take no action. In its most recent announcement, Google said this is still the case; however, accounts that continue experiencing an incorrect review count after Monday, 17, should contact support on the Google Business Profile help page.
