What hundreds of SEOs told us about budgets, tactics and what still moves rankings and AI citations.

Every engagement is led by people who ran SEO inside companies like yours, not account managers reading from a script.
uSERP is a roofing SEO company for established roofers that want to own the map pack, the organic results, and the AI answer in every city they serve, instead of renting leads from marketplaces or bidding $228 a lead on ads. Local SEO, service and city pages, technical SEO, local market backlinks, reviews, and KPI tracking from one team, measured in signed jobs.
Built for roofing companies with crews to keep busy: residential replacement, storm and insurance restoration, commercial, and multi-location operators.
SEO and authority building trusted by brands like
Clutch ranks agencies on verified client interviews, not self-reported claims. uSERP holds the roofing and home services SEO badges for 2026, plus top link building and display advertising company in the United States.
We pulled every keyword in the United States that contains “roofing company,” then added the big repair and replacement terms homeowners type when a roof fails. The total is the demand your market is competing for, every month, whether or not a storm hits.
Spread across roughly 109,000 roofing businesses, that is about 38 searches per company per month. It does not spread evenly. The three businesses in the map pack and the top organic results take most of the clicks in every city.
Roofers have three ways to get found online: buy shared leads, bid on ads, or rank. The first two reset every month and get more expensive every year. The third compounds. That is the business case for SEO for roofing companies, and it is why we measure it in signed jobs, not traffic.
Every channel here is somebody else's asset. You pay for access, the price rises with competition, and the moment you stop, the phone stops.
Cost: rises every year. Asset value when you stop: zero.
Google's local results run on relevance, distance, and prominence. Build the profile, the pages, the reviews, and the links, and you hold the position while competitors keep paying.
Cost: a retainer. Asset value when you stop: the rankings, the profile, the pages, and the reviews stay yours.

Figures are national averages and will vary by market.
SEO spend only matters against jobs signed and the margin on them. Put in your retainer, the organic leads you expect, your close rate, and your average ticket. The calculator shows jobs, revenue, gross profit, cost per lead and per job, return on spend, and how many jobs cover the retainer. Then compare the cost per lead to $228 on paid search.
Defaults use 2026 benchmarks: HomeAdvisor and Verisk for job values, JobNimbus for margins and inbound close rates, LocalIQ for paid cost per lead, published roofing SEO pricing for the retainer. Organic lead volume is yours to edit; it depends on your market, your starting position, and months in the program, and it is not a promise. ROI is gross profit minus the retainer, divided by the retainer. It excludes crew capacity, sales commission, and the referrals a finished roof generates.
Most roofing SEO services are one thing with a name: a Google Business Profile someone checks monthly, or a blog nobody reads. Google's local results run on relevance, distance, and prominence, and each of those is built from specific inputs. We work on all of them, in the order that moves your rankings fastest.
The three-pack takes about a third of the clicks on a roofing search. We optimize and manage your profile (primary category, services, service areas, photos, posts, Q&A), clean up citations and NAP consistency, and engineer the review velocity that moves you into the three.
You cannot rank in a city you do not have a page for. We build city, county, and neighborhood pages with real local proof (jobs, photos, reviews, permits) so each one ranks on its own instead of duplicating the last one, and so you can expand into nearby markets without a second office.
Roof replacement, roof repair, storm and hail damage, insurance claims, emergency leaks, metal, commercial, TPO, gutters. Each service gets its own page written around the decision a homeowner is making, with cost guides and material guides that earn the “how much does a new roof cost” searches your competitors ignore.
Crawl and indexation fixes, Core Web Vitals, mobile performance, HTTPS, clean URL structure, and RoofingContractor, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, and Review schema so Google and the AI engines understand exactly who you are, where you work, and what you do.
Most roofing traffic arrives on a mobile phone from someone with a problem. We design and build the pages the SEO plan needs, fast, mobile-first, with click-to-call, financing, and instant quote CTAs above the fold, on a site you own outright. Rebuild when the current site cannot be fixed, fix when it can.
Google's own documentation names links and reviews as prominence inputs. The link building team behind monday.com, Robinhood, and CrowdStrike earns local news, home and property publications, supplier and manufacturer pages, chamber and sponsorship placements, and roofing industry sites, pointed at the city and service pages that need to move.
Reviews are a Google ranking input and the thing 97% of homeowners read before calling. We build the review request into your job close-out, keep the count and recency above the map pack median, respond to every review in your voice, and handle the negative ones before they cost you a month of calls.
11% of homeowners already pick roofers from AI answers. The engines cite the same signals SEO builds: reviews, directories, consistent entity data, and mentions on local sources. We audit which sources are cited for “best roofer in [city],” close the gaps, and track your mentions monthly.
“They found us on Google” is not attribution. We connect call tracking, forms, GBP insights, GA4, Search Console, and your CRM so every job traces back to a page, a keyword, and a map pack position, and report it monthly in a signal hierarchy that separates rankings from revenue.
Google's own documentation says local results are based mainly on three things. There is no way to pay for a better local ranking. Here is what each factor is made of, and what we do about it.
“How well a Business Profile matches what someone is searching for.”
“How far each business is from the customer who's searching.”
“How well-known a business is... based on info like how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have.”
Quotes from Google Business Profile Help, “Tips to improve your local ranking on Google.” Google states there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Whitespark's 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors survey of 47 local SEO experts ranks primary GBP category, proximity, keywords in the business title, ratings, and review count among the top map pack factors, and reports rising weight on review and behavioral signals.
Roofing SEO fails when an agency publishes blog posts before the Google Business Profile is right, or builds links before tracking exists. Our sequence is fixed because the economics are: every ranking is wasted if the call is not tracked and the page does not convert.
Weeks one and two. We grid-check your map pack position across your service area, audit your profile, citations, reviews, site, and backlinks against the three businesses in the pack, run an AI source check for your city, and wire call and form tracking into your CRM. Nothing else starts until a signed job can be traced to its source.
Weeks two through six. Google Business Profile rebuilt category by category, citations cleaned, review system running at job close-out, technical fixes shipped, RoofingContractor and LocalBusiness schema in place, and the service and city page architecture built. This is the work that moves the map pack first, usually inside 60 to 90 days.
Months two through six. City and service pages publish on a schedule. Local market backlinks land from news, suppliers, sponsorships, and industry sites, pointed at the pages that need to move. Review count climbs. GEO work gets you cited in AI answers for your city. Each month's report shows what moved in the map pack, in organic, and in AI answers, and which calls came from which.
Every month, in one report: map pack positions across the grid, organic rankings, AI citations, tracked calls and forms, inspections booked, and signed jobs by page and keyword. Roofing demand is bimodal, so storm-driven spikes report on their own line and never hide a weak baseline. A quarterly review with your leadership decides where the next pages, links, and markets go.
Gordon Meagher, VP of SEO Strategy, owns your plan and decides where every hour goes between the profile, the pages, the links, the reviews, and AI search. Robert J Lora, Director of SEO, runs technical SEO and AI visibility. You get a weekly delivery update, a monthly report in the signal hierarchy above, and a quarterly review with your leadership. Every account, every page, every review, and every byte of data stays in your name.
The question is rarely whether to invest in SEO. It is whether your current spend builds something that still produces calls after you stop paying, or rents attention one storm season at a time. Check these before you sign with anyone, including us.
Bring the situation that sounds familiar. We will tell you whether it is a ranking problem, a tracking problem, or an operations problem, and what to do about it either way.
Get a roofing SEO planThese are general ranges, not a guarantee, and anyone promising first page in 30 days is describing something other than SEO. Profile, citation, and review work moves the map pack first. New service and city pages and the links behind them take longer in a competitive metro, then hold.
Visibility grid, competitive audit, call and form tracking to your CRM, profile rebuilt, citations cleaned, review system live, technical fixes shipped.
Profile and review signals compound; first service and city pages publish; first local links land; map pack positions move across the grid.
Service, city, and cost guide pages reach page one; authority accumulates; first AI citations tracked; organic calls become a measurable share of inspections.
Map pack, organic, and AI search carry the baseline through the slow season. Quarterly reviews point the next pages and links at the services and neighborhoods you want more of.
Published roofing SEO retainers run from $2,000 to $5,000 a month, with $249 bundles and $99 starters at the bottom that buy a templated site and a profile someone checks monthly. Ours is scoped to the markets you serve and your crew capacity, runs every input Google uses to rank a roofer, and is built to make organic the channel that carries the business.
Priced by the number of markets you serve and how aggressive the content and authority program needs to be to win your map pack. Every scope, quantity, and price is in writing before you sign.

A retainer at this level only makes sense when one or two extra jobs a month pay for it many times over and your crews can run the work. We would rather tell you that now than on the call.
We do not yet publish a roofing case study, and we will not invent one. What we can show is the same local SEO playbook, run for a Chicago video production studio competing for its city's most valuable commercial searches, and the search growth we deliver for national brands with the same team.
Richter Studios needed to win Chicago's commercial searches for video production and animation against national competitors and aggregators. We built linkable assets around their expertise, earned mentions on DR 65 to 95 sites, and pointed the authority at the service pages that book projects. Rankings moved within weeks. Contracts followed.
Swap “video production chicago” for “roofing company [your city]” and the mechanics are identical: city-level authority, pages built for the buying decision, and a map pack and organic presence that compounds while competitors buy leads.
Map pack, organic, authority, and AI search are one discipline. Here is what it does when the whole program points at the pages that make money.
